Leadership Story Lab
We’re in the business of combining the science of persuasion and the art of storytelling to help our clients establish deeper and more meaningful connections with their audience. We believe you don’t have to be a superhero to tell great stories. But you do need tools and processes to become a great storyteller. We draw out what is authentic in our clients and help them amplify it. To learn for about Leadership Story Lab, click here!
What sparked the idea for your business?
I used to teach leadership to undergraduate students at an academic program within Northwestern University. Afterwards I became an admissions officer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. From developing leaders to evaluating leaders, I noticed a huge achievement gap. Those who regurgitate their credentials (however impressive) tend to get overlooked by decision makers. Those who connect their qualifications in narratives that move and compel decisions makers tend to advance in their career.
What fuels your creativity? How do you keep the ideas coming?
Take small and frequent breaks from work. Observe, listen and ask questions. Hang out at the Art Institute and surround myself with creative people.
Give us an example of a creative output that you’re particularly proud of.
My company! While there are lots of leadership development companies and a growing number of storytelling ones, very few (if any) combine the two.
What recently piqued your curiosity and how did you satisfy it?
Vegan food. I find recipes online, talk to friends and neighbors and evaluate the health vs. cost of eating vegan. But at the end of the day, the most helpful way to satisfy my curiosity with vegan food is to consume it! I can contemplate an idea all I want. But it’s in the experience of an idea that is most tangible and rewarding.
